Our client, a well established Multinational Organization, is seeking a Permitting Manager, Iraqi citizenship, who is fluent in both English and Arabic to support permitting and regulatory compliance activities within the Oil & Gas industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Local Laws, Industry Standards, and Permitting Processes to ensure timely acquisition of required permits and certificates from various authorities in Iraq.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee the permitting team to ensure timely application and approval of all necessary permits and certificates related to construction, utilities, buildings, personnel work permits, and oilfield access.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards while obtaining permits for radio systems, electrical networks, drinking water networks, fire detection systems, pipeline crossings, environmental regulations, and more.
- Develop and maintain a Statutory and Regulatory Compliance Plan and a Permitting Register, ensuring full compliance with all laws and contract requirements.
- Report permitting progress and status updates to the Interface Manager while ensuring alignment with the overall project schedule.
- Act as the key point of contact for regulatory authorities and stakeholders to facilitate approvals and resolve compliance issues.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Iraqi citizenship with fluency in English and Arabic (both written and spoken).
- 7-10 years of relevant experience in permitting within the Oil & Gas Industry at the same position.
- Strong knowledge of Iraqi laws, regulations, and industry standards related to construction, utilities, and environmental compliance.
- Proven ability to manage regulatory processes and liaise with government authorities to obtain necessary approvals.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple permit applications simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience working with International Oil & Gas Companies or large-scale energy projects in Iraq.
- Familiarity with Environmental Regulations and HSE compliance in Oil & Gas projects.
