JOB SUMMARY
The Assistant Cook will be responsible for assisting Cooks with food preparation and cooking while ensuring assigned areas of the kitchen are clean, organized, and operating efficiently. Must be able to pay attention to detail and can work in a fast-paced environment. The Assistant Cook will also actively support and uphold the company’s vision, mission, and values.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all guidelines established by the Food and Beverage Manager while working closely under the supervision of the Head Chef to ensure consistency and quality in food preparation.
- Assist cooks with various tasks, including the preparation, processing, and presentation of food items, ensuring that each dish meets high standards of quality and taste.
- Take responsibility for completing daily tasks related to food preparation, such as chopping ingredients, marinating proteins, and organizing workstations, to ensure a smooth workflow during service.
- Follow the clean-as-you-go practice, maintaining a tidy work environment by continuously cleaning utensils, surfaces, and equipment as you work.
- Support the Manager in maintaining the first-in, first-out (FIFO) inventory system to ensure that all food items are used in their order of arrival, minimizing waste and ensuring freshness.
- Contribute to the overall cleanliness of all areas within the dining facility, including dining rooms, kitchens, and storage areas, to create a pleasant and hygienic environment for both staff and guests.
- Practice good personal hygiene by dressing appropriately, washing hands regularly, and adhering to food safety standards to promote a healthy workplace.
- Be prepared to perform additional duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support the team in various capacities as needed.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- A minimum of two years of experience in either hot or cold kitchen environments, producing a variety of cuisines for the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program (LOGCAP).
- A ServeSafe certification (or an equivalent) is required, or the candidate should be in the process of obtaining certification.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
- The candidate must pass a medical physical examination.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK CONDITIONS
- Must be able to read and write in English.
- Must be capable of lifting 35 lbs.
