Job Description
We are seeking a talented and experienced Executive Sous Chef to join our culinary team in Baghdad, Iraq. As the second-in-command in our kitchen, you will work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure the highest standards of food quality, kitchen efficiency, and team performance.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to develop innovative menus, recipes, and culinary concepts
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, quality control, and inventory management
- Assign specific duties to kitchen staff and provide clear instructions and guidance
- Ensure compliance with food safety standards, hygiene regulations, and quality control measures
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness, organization, and proper functioning of kitchen equipment
- Train, mentor, and motivate kitchen staff to enhance their skills and promote a positive work environment
- Assist in managing food costs, reducing waste, and optimizing kitchen efficiency
- Conduct regular taste tests and quality checks on prepared dishes
- Participate in menu planning, pricing, and cost control initiatives
- Step in for the Executive Chef when necessary, assuming full kitchen leadership responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of new recipes and culinary techniques to keep the menu fresh and exciting
- Ensure excellent communication between kitchen and front-of-house staff to maintain smooth service operations
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar Executive Sous Chef role or equivalent position
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse kitchen team
- Extensive knowledge of various cuisines, culinary techniques, and food trends
- Proven track record in menu development, food presentation, and quality control
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work efficiently under pressure
- Solid understanding of food safety standards, health regulations, and kitchen safety protocols
